The role
As an Engineering Manager at GoCardless, you’ll be helping us build creative and fulfilled product engineering teams. You will lead talented and creative engineers who build products and systems they are proud of. 
We endeavour to build simple, reliable systems and we believe in using the best technologies for each task. Joining the Connectivity Group you’ll be working in a team that primarily uses: Ruby on Rails, Python, PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Storage.
Across GoCardless, our other technologies include: Golang, React, TypeScript, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, BigQuery.

  • First and foremost, coding! - Our Engineering Managers still contribute to the codebase on a daily basis.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert - for the area you manage, guiding engineers through problems and contributing to the product and technical roadmap.

  • Insisting on high standards of technical design and implementation - and ensure your systems are operationally excellent
  • Delivering project work - while managing the expectations of your stakeholders, planning and prioritising impactful technical investment initiatives for your teams

  • Professional experienced in coding - with Ruby and/or Python, with a commitment to building reliable, well-tested systems
  • Enthusiastic about working in a strong culture of testing and code review - to help us in building a reliable and scalable network for the world!
  • Someone who is excited about supporting and growing a group of engineers, helping them become the best engineers they can be
  • Somebody able to effectively communicate - mainly technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experienced in collaborating - with Product Managers and other functions to deliver successful software products

Salary Range: between €6,720 and €8,140 per month (Gross)
