Your new role
At ReadCube, we develop tools that support academic and commercial research activities. We’re seeing immense growth in the industry, and so our core focus is scaling our application with stable, distributed back-end services.

What you’ll be doing
- Write, test, review, and maintain code using Ruby
- Evaluate and recommend solutions & suggestions to the team
- Maintain and improve internal APIs
- Document the systems you help build, monitor, and maintain
- Coordinate with product, design, and support to organize priorities
- Improve the scalability and performance of the platform
What you’ll bring to the role
- Strong foundation in Ruby language and at least 3+ years of Ruby on Rails development experience
- Experience working with SQL databases. Knowledge of other data store technologies (esp. Memcached, Redis, Elasticearch) is a plus
- Familiarity with Heroku and Amazon AWS is a plus
- Experience with node/npm toolchain and parts of a popular JS frontend stack is considered a plus (e.g. Bootstrap, Angular, React, jQuery)
- Experience working with existing codebases
- Prior start-up or freelancing experience is a strength but not required
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
