Senior Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer

Beachy

North America, Europe, and South America
$100,000 - $130,000 yearly
Beachy is a B2B hospitality technology company serving the nation’s top resorts and beachside vendors. Our award-winning activities/amenities reservations and mobile food & beverage cloud-based solutions are tightly integrated to the leading POS and PMS systems to vastly improve the guest experience at resort pools, beaches, golf courses, and open-air event venues.

Our tech enables guests to reserve the fun stuff like beach and pool chairs,  paddleboards and jet skis at the same time that they make their hotel reservation, just like they reserve an airline or concert seat. On property, our solutions give servers the tools they need to fulfill the promise of four- and five-star service, at the farthest reaches of any resort property. Guests get great service, properties get fantastic reviews, servers and attendants make more money. It’s pretty cool.

As a senior full-stack Ruby on Rails engineer, reporting to the SVP of Engineering you will work closely with product managers and your peers to deliver capabilities that enable our resort customers to serve their guests better. Your enthusiasm, positivity, and imagination will be rewarded with the trust and freedom to act independently and create. At Beachy, we treat each other with empathy and respect; we know life happens and we’re committed to supporting our people - teammates and customers - as we continue to build a great company together.

Here’s what we’d like to see in your background and experience:
  • 5+ years of engineering experience building scalable user-facing web applications and APIs with the Ruby on Rails framework
  • Experience deploying, scaling, and monitoring services in AWS - EC2, RDS, Cloudfront, Redshift, S3, etc.
  • Dedication to quality software engineering, including writing unit and integration tests around your code
  • Experience building solutions with PostgreSQL
  • A thorough grasp of agile development concepts
  • Previous work experience at a tech startup and with a remote development team
  • Commitment to iterative development, starting with the simplest thing that can work
  • Bonus points for experience in the travel and hospitality industry
And here’s what you can expect to do in this role:
  • Enhance our B2B platform by iterating on our web application and internal APIs, and improving our core backend architecture
  • Rise to the challenge of integrating with point-of-sale and property management systems in the travel and hospitality industry
  • Keep work flowing through our development system by suggesting improvements and being open to experiments
  • Provide alternative perspectives in code reviews, share constructive feedback, and be receptive when others review your work
  • Maintain high levels of test coverage and explore edge cases outside the happy path
  • Strive for maintainable code that “future you” will love
  • Coach and share knowledge from your areas of strength
  • Have fun shipping software with a kind, talented team who love solving problems together
We are a remote-first company with engineers in Tennessee, Indiana, Texas, and the great countries of Poland and Canada. We also have sales, operations, and product staff in Florida, Texas, and California. We’d love to add your location to our map.
