Position Overview:

Next Glass is seeking a talented Principal Software Engineer on our Brewery Solutions team to spearhead the transition of our operational model towards a federated structure, empowering engineering teams to take ownership of uptime, security, and scalability of their products. This individual will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence, fostering a culture of DevOps, and leading by example to ensure the reliability and efficiency of Next Glass's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to establish a culture of operational excellence inspired by industry best practices, particularly those exemplified by Amazon and AWS.
  • Implement team-driven ops rotation and efficacy measurement tied to monitoring and standard DevOps Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Facilitate engineering teams in adhering to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and security best practices during the development of new features, services, and applications.
  • Ensure that DevOps considerations are integrated into the design phase of projects.
  • Drive the maturity of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices across all engineering teams, leveraging automation and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Next Glass's AWS infrastructure using Terraform scripting and Kubernetes.
  • Track, optimize, and manage AWS and other tech vendor costs effectively.
  • Provide real-time support for infrastructure and security-related production issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of industry experience as a software engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role for large-scale consumer products with millions of users.
  • Proficiency in the Amazon AWS ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, and Helm Charts for Kubernetes.
  • Experience configuring and operating CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with APM/Monitoring/Alerting/Dashboarding tools like New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and PagerDuty.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages including Go, Python, Ruby, and PHP.
  • Experience managing and scaling large relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Ubuntu and CentOS systems.
  • Experience in SecOps.
  • Expertise in Performance Engineering, particularly in scaling databases.
  • Experience working with early or growth-stage startups.
