Software Engineer

Our technology is central to how we serve clients and empower our internal teams, and we’re looking for a senior engineering leader—strongly versed in Ruby on Rails—to help shape the future of our technical operations. 

We are hiring a Software Engineer with Ruby on Rails experience to take long-term ownership of our internal software systems. This is a hands-on role focused on re-writing and rebuilding our legacy systems while also maintaining and evolving the technology that drives our core business. You will play a key part in the migration effort, ensuring code quality, and delivering secure and reliable systems that support our growth.  Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance applications using Ruby on Rails. 

• Contribute to architecture and system design decisions with scalability, reliability, and security in mind. 

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following best practices and coding standards. 

• Perform code reviews and provide feedback to peers to maintain quality across the team. 

• Collaborate with operations, compliance, and product teams to improve workflows and user experience through technology. 

• Participate in the full development lifecycle: planning, development, testing, deployment, and support. 

• Ensure systems comply with data protection and security standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2). 

• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance. 

• Contribute to internal documentation to support knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability. 

Qualifications 

• 4+ years of experience in software development  

• 2+ years of hands-on Ruby on Rails development, with experience architecting and scaling applications. 

• Knowledge of backend and frontend technologies (Hotwire experience is a plus)  

• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines. 

• Experience working with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirement and review new features 

• Familiarity with secure systems design and handling protected data in regulated industries is a plus (GDPR, healthcare, legal, or financial tech). 

• Experience in migrating legacy systems is a plus 

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

• Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. 

• Proactive mindset and ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term technical health. 

• Experience with and excited to use the latest AI tools for both writing software (Claude Code) and in software (OpenAI APIs)
