The Opportunity
As our Senior Lead Developer and Technical Architect, you'll be the technical cornerstone of our growing engineering team with an immediate focus on shipping our MVP document processor within 2 months. This role demands a hands-on technical leader who leverages AI coding agents as standard practice to accelerate development while maintaining enterprise-grade quality.
You'll join a team of high-performing do-ers operating in a fast-paced, nimble, early-stage environment - with all the perks and challenges that come with building something from the ground up. What You'll Own
Technical Vision & Strategy
- Architectural Leadership: Design and evolve our full-stack architecture, making critical decisions about technology stack, system design, and scalability patterns
- Technical Roadmap: Drive long-term technical strategy aligned with business objectives and market opportunities
- Innovation Leadership: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, particularly in AI/ML, real-time collaboration, and workflow automation
- Technical Standards: Establish and enforce coding standards, testing practices, and development workflows across the organization
Hands-On Development Excellence
- Full-Stack Mastery: Lead development across our Rails 8.x API backend and modern React/TypeScript frontend
- Complex Problem Solving: Tackle challenging technical problems in real estate workflow automation, multi-tenant architecture, and real-time collaboration
- Performance Engineering: Optimize application performance, database queries, and system scalability for growing user demands
- Security Implementation: Ensure robust security practices including authentication, authorization, data protection, and compliance requirements
Platform Development Leadership
- Intelligent Document Processing: Lead development of our core document processor that automatically analyzes executed contracts (PDFs/Word docs) to extract forms, tasks, and critical due dates - this is the heart of our platform's value proposition
- AI-Powered Contract Analysis: Build sophisticated AI systems using the best available models (currently Google Gemini) to parse complex real estate contracts, identify required forms, extract deadlines, and generate automated task workflows
- Transaction Workflow Automation: Transform extracted contract data into actionable workflows with automated task generation, deadline tracking, and intelligent status monitoring
- Real-Time Collaboration: Build and optimize WebSocket-based real-time features for seamless team coordination around contract milestones
- Integration Ecosystem: Develop robust integrations with Google Calendar, AWS S3, Stripe, and other essential real estate tools
Team Leadership & Development
- Hands-On Leadership: Lead by example as a do-er first - writing code, solving problems, and building systems while scaling the team around you

Technical Requirements
Core Backend Expertise
- Ruby on Rails: 5+ years of expert-level Rails experience (7.x/8.x preferred), with deep knowledge of Active Record, Rails API patterns, and advanced Rails features
- Database Mastery: Advanced PostgreSQL skills including complex query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning
- Authentication & Security: Extensive experience with Devise, JWT, OAuth2, role-based access control, and security best practices
