FindBob is a SaaS platform serving wealth management and financial services firms across North America. We power advisor succession, talent mobility, and practice continuity for some of the largest names in the industry. We are a small, high-ownership team operating at the intersection of enterprise reliability and product velocity.

About this role

We're hiring a senior engineer who is hungry for the next step into engineering leadership, but isn't there yet — and wants to grow into it deliberately, with real mentorship and real responsibility. This is an unusual role in the best sense: you'll be the most senior IC on the team, paired closely with the CEO and a fellow engineer, with a defined path to the Engineering Lead title within 18–24 months.

Our platform and infrastructure are thoroughly documented, and you'll have a structured ramp with direct mentorship from leadership.

What you'll do

You'll split your time roughly 70/30 between product engineering and infrastructure:

  • Product engineering (primary): Own end-to-end delivery of features on our Ruby on Rails + React/TypeScript platform. Set technical direction on the surfaces you own. Pair with our junior-intermediate engineer to lift their work.
  • Infrastructure (paired): Contribute to AWS, CI/CD, SSO, search, and our agentic framework.
  • Leadership growth: Within 6 months, run sprint planning and 1:1s. Within 12 months, lead the next engineering hire. Within 18–24 months, step formally into the Engineering Lead title with the comp band that comes with it.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years building production SaaS, with deep ownership of at least one major surface
  • Ruby on Rails proficiency (this is the core of our platform — non-negotiable)
  • Strong React + TypeScript on the front end
  • Comfort in AWS (EC2, RDS, S3 at minimum); bonus for CircleCI, Sidekiq, GraphQL, Elasticsearch
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into engineering workflows or product features (Anthropic, OpenAI, agentic frameworks, Cursor / Copilot adoption)
  • Track record of mentoring engineers, even informally — code review, pairing, knowledge sharing, raising the bar
  • Hunger to grow into engineering leadership, with the self-awareness to know what they don't know yet

What this role is not

We want to be transparent: this is not a Director or VP of Engineering role. It's a senior IC role with a real leadership runway. If you're already running a 15-person org and want to keep doing that, this isn't the right fit. If you've been the strong second engineer at a startup and are ready to be the lead engineer at a slightly bigger one, with structured growth into a real management role, this is the role.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary range: CAD $90,000 – $105,000, with a defined comp review at 6 and 12 months tied to scope ramp and leadership transition milestones
